Meet Kimberly McKay, author of Finding Kylie published by Vanilla Heart Publishing. Kimberly has worked in the media, sales and free-lance writing.
I've had a career in outside sales and free lance writing for the last 15 years. Mostly my sales career was in the media selling airtime or newspaper advertisements. I excelled, but never was truly happy. Sales is something I 'can' do but didn't enjoy. In my last sales position, women were treated as a second class citizen. We were expected to work harder while the men could slide by and get promoted. Women that had babies were blacklisted even further. Once my child was born, I knew that what I was doing was NOT worth the price. No amount of money or salary was worth the price paid to deal with the boys club in Corporate America. I knew I was destined to be a more full time mom. Although we couldn't afford to make the move to allow me to leave work, I did take the challenge on to follow my dreams ... hence my first book and the start of my own photography company.
So now, I own my own photography business and am writing the sequel to my first novel. Growing up around my grandfather's darkroom, the love of photography has always been in my heart. A great photo is an emotional tie to those people and places we love.Bottom line, I didn't want to wake up at 40 someday soon and wonder - 'what if'.I wanted to take charge of my own destiny and asked God for guidance so that my path would be in accordance for His will for my life.
Being a military brat, I was raised all over the world. Hearing the ocean roaring in and tasting the salt on my lips, is my ideal situation. When land locked, I often dream of digging my toes in the sand and watching the surf. I loved dolphins before they were cool and got my belly pierced before it was the thing to do. Now I've taken it out as its the thing to do.
I grew up in Hawaii and Virginia and lived everywhere from Japan to half the continental U.S. I've been married for 8 great years to my soul mate, and we have the most adorable son in the world. My son is the joy of my heart. He's going to make some girl very happy one day.
The most important thing in my life is Christ. Without my faith in Him, the rest of my life gets out of control pretty quickly. Without Him in my heart, I wouldn't have made it through most of the hard times in my life. And thanks to Him, I've been blessed with all of the above--family, friends, and opportunities to live life to it's fullest. No matter how hard life gets, I know I'm blessed just to be here and have my life!
